Some Frequently Asked Questions

Does the FCC ruling mean Loxada can no longer supply devices to US customers?

No. Our current device models were FCC-authorized before the March 2026 ruling and can continue to be sold and deployed. The ruling blocks new foreign-made router models from receiving FCC authorization going forward. It does not affect previously authorized models. We are monitoring the post-2027 regulatory position and will communicate any changes to customers in advance.

Who develops Loxada's firmware?

Loxada’s firmware is currently developed and maintained by engineers based in the UK and United States. By Q4 2026, firmware development for US customers will be handled exclusively by US-based staff. This is a commitment we are making ahead of any regulatory requirement to do so, and it is directly informed by the unresolved post-2027 regulatory landscape.

If my Loxada device is made in China, am I still protected from the risks the FCC ruling was designed to address?

The FCC determination was specifically concerned with manufacturer firmware, supply chain provenance, and the risk of persistent access via compromised router software. Loxada’s architecture directly addresses all of those concerns, regardless of where the underlying hardware was made.

Every Loxada device runs Loxada’s proprietary firmware. The manufacturer’s firmware is removed entirely at provisioning. The device cannot be updated by the manufacturer, cannot communicate with manufacturer infrastructure, and cannot receive unauthorized configuration changes. Updates are applied centrally by Loxada, automatically, and independently of the hardware manufacturer’s practices.

Can Loxada switch to non-Chinese hardware if regulation requires it?

Yes. Loxada’s architecture was designed from the start to be hardware-agnostic, supporting over 200 device models across multiple manufacturers. We are not dependent on any single manufacturer or country of origin. If post-2027 regulation requires a shift in our device supply chain, we are positioned to make that change without disrupting the firmware and service layer our customers rely on.

Does the FCC's March 2026 router ruling affect Loxada devices?

Not in a way that disrupts your current deployment. All Loxada devices in use were FCC-authorized before the March 2026 ruling came into effect. Existing authorized hardware is unaffected: it can continue to be used, and firmware and security updates are permitted under the OET blanket waiver currently in place until at least March 1, 2027.

The post-2027 update position is unresolved, and we will keep customers informed as that develops. Our commitment to US-based firmware development by Q4 2026 is part of how we are preparing for that uncertainty now.
